| Oregon Zones 4C, 5B Oregon: the code and the DOE map name different zonesTwo instruments, two answers, and both are correct for their own purpose. DOE / IECC county map (2021 IECC Table R301.1): Oregon counties fall in 4C, 5B and 6B. This is what a Manual J load calculation and a REScheck run read, and it is the value shown in the zone column above. Oregon's own code (2023 ORSC Table NA1109.1): names exactly two zones, 4C and 5C, with maximum Energy Rating Index values of 54 and 55. The reason they differ is that Oregon's code authors wrote their own two-row ERI table instead of adopting the national county map. Neither is an error, and neither overrides the other. What it means for a project: Oregon's prescriptive envelope requirements have no climate-zone axis at all. Table N1101.1(1) has two columns, Standard Base Case and Log Homes Only, and its values apply statewide from Astoria to Ontario. Climate zone only changes a number if you are using the ERI compliance path. For load calculations, the DOE county zone is the one that governs.
